You have found it - our 'C190' Camperback is designed for the discerning enthusiast. Still the lightest quality trayback or slide-on available!
Our five year warranty on our manfacture is evidence that we have the utmost faith in our product and will ensure your Camperback performs to expectations. Our personal service is also our guarantee.
The outcome of over 7 years research and development, we believe we have produced the answer for ''Adventurers''. An ultra light, functionally superior, quick and simple to open, hard floor camping system that will survive the rugged conditions of the Australian outback, but still suitable for use in any caravan park facility. We believe our combination of a female influencing the practicality of the design and layout and the male in control of the engineering excellence makes for a perfect combination!
Our innovative C190 Camperback is the perfect partner for your flat tray ute or trailer. It allows the bold to go to places that others wouldn't dream of.
The C190 weighs around 310kg and includes the full canvas tent, and standard fittings. Once you pack all the necessary water, food, fridge, clothing, tools, recovery gear and ancillary camping requisites, it still weighs in at below 700kgs – even with 100 litres of water on board. This is much kinder to our sensitive environment which needs to be protected from unnecessary damage due to vehicle use, particularly after rain. Most of our competitors with comparable units weigh around 6-700kg and more before putting anything in them!
More people are recognising the benefits of lower axle weights achievable with our new C190, indeed some people are realising they are presently overloaded with their existing camper configuration, and have changed to a C190! Overloading your vehicle is of concern, as it could put your personal safety at risk and possibly jeopardise your insurance coverage.
We are constantly reminded of people's desire to prepare for their forthcoming retirement. Using a ute for one of their primary vehicles, if not the only one, can reduce registration, insurance and maintenance costs, which is most attractive. Being able to simply convert your ute into an off-road leisure vehicle with all conveniences is very smart! Then simply revert back to your every day workhorse – what better?
Similarly, this can convert your everyday 6' x 4' trailer into a multi-purpose unit in the same way. Allowing you to use the trailer for general home/farm duties and just convert it to a camper trailer for recreational purposes.
Storage of our Camperback is simple and takes up little space, either whilst travelling or for long term breaks at home.
Our continuous improvement program has produced a camper that is second to none. We have listened to the comments of our clients and have incorporated many of their ideas to enhance unit functionality. We believe we have achieved the definitive outcome and our C190 is the proof. However, we will not stop there! We will always be looking for ways to ensure that we are kept in the forefront of design and construction methods to meet the needs of our discerning buyers.
The advanced attributes of composite sandwich panels give the new C190 Camperback the edge! See our "Products" tab for more detailed information.
Each page of this web site has a collection of Camperback and landscape images on the right hand side. Once clicked they enlarge, this will give you an idea of what the Camperback can bring to you!
Our Gallery tab is an exhibition displaying even more of the scenery and Camperback situations that we, or our customers, have been privileged to enjoy.
See our "2nd hand" tab for superseded or pre loved models that may be available for sale.

Extracts from a letter from Maureen Lapsley and Kevin Gargan, Meredith, Victoria
Maureen calls the Camperback 'our 5 star camper' as it takes less than 5 minutes to set up and is as comfortable as any 5 star accommodation. The other major
advantage is the fact we could go anywhere without the restriction of towing a trailer or caravan and could park anywhere in towns
We were able to customise the Camperback to our specs which personalises it to our needs - a great bonus
We congratulate them on an excellent product in design, engineering and finish as well as ease of operation
We will continue to recommend your Camperbacks to any interested parties.

After driving a van for more than 15 years we decided to change over to a 4WD ute.
After a year of tenting and tieing our stuff on the tray we decided it was time to find something more comfortable without the need to tow and go bush
The Camperback from Utility Campers stood out from the beginning.
The kitchen that can be used both inside and outside,
The hard floor and the ease of use made it the winner on our shortlist.
Utility Campers goes a long way to make a customer happy. Stewart and Pamela are very passionate about their product and love to share their travel stories.
We have been using our camper for over a year now and are very pleased about it.
It's great to have access to nearly everything while you are travelling.
We hardly ever spend two nights at the same spot as it just takes a few minutes to get the tent up or down. Only now we realise how much thought has gone into
this camper.
Stuart Kostera and Meg Carty from Kalamunda, WA
Meg & Stuart have been travelling the outback with their P190 Camperback for almost 4 years. They have travelled more than 100,000 kms over some of the most difficult terrain, and he says, "he can’t break it!!"

The owners of our first C190 Camperback production model – comment
“One of the biggest advantages was the light weight construction. With a smaller vehicle like the Rodeo, this is a concern. When you see some of the rigs on the road, I believe many vehicles carrying or towing campers are over their legal weight limits. Ours was the first production unit in this new material.
We have 60 litres of water, but the standard units have 100 litres, we sacrificed some of the space to take a second battery.
Fuel consumption – we usually only use 1 or 1.5 litres per 100km more when carrying the camper than normal driving. Before we purchased the camper we hired a light weight, soft floor camper trailer and used 2.5 litres/100km more than usual.
We gave it the ultimate test on its first trip – The Canning Stock Route! It stood up well to all that was handed out – worst corrugations we’ve ever experienced, and extreme ‘body twisting’ bumps and ruts, particularly over the more than 900 sand hills. The only thing that broke was the stove. From that experience Stewart now reinforces all stoves in the weak area. (Note this is an Italian made marine stove – probably not expected to encounter this type of use.)"

The camper performed exceptionally well, it was a pleasure to set up and make ready for each day. To the extent that one of the party is going over to visit you with the view to purchasing one.
A pair of happy campers - down any track it's on our back

These are only some of our happy customer stories - not everyone has the time to put the pen to paper, but the verbals are never ending.
Utility Campers is proud of its Australian heritage and believes that our indigenous artists display this in a unique and individual manner. We commissioned this painting to represent the freedom that our Camperback provides to travellers to enjoy our great Australian land. The display of this on a C190 is optional , but we believe it enhances the aesthetics of the unit.
RIPPLE OF MOVEMENT AND FREEDOM
This painting depicts the movement of the lizards, birds and turtles as they moved and flew. Over the mountains through the hills, from place to place they travelled in search of food that was plentiful and in abundance, watering holes, were always full.
As they moved around they left ripples of movement in the sand, high in the sky, the birds watched the elders gather at their meeting places and waited to invite their visitors. They too travelled from far and wide to meet and accept each other as one people.
